Both advanced on a wild pitch and junior Justin Glass (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Freshman Ian Happ (Pittsburgh Pa./Mt. Senior closer Andrew Strenge (Yardley, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the eighth inning to keep the one-run advantage.

Cincinnati played add-on in the eighth when freshman infielder Devin Wenzel (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood Area) started the inning off with a single up the middle. He advanced to second on a passed ball and later scored on a Murray single for the final 6-4 tally.

The Bulldogs took a 3-1 lead in the fifth inning after James Baker started off the inning with a single up the middle. He advanced to second on an error and then moved to third on a groundout. UC tied the game back up in the fifth inning with a two-out rally. Redshirt sophomore Ethan McAlpine (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) walked and advanced to third on a single through the right side by Glass.
