Matt Ring Named to American Baseball Honor Roll|

CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati baseball redshirt junior Matt Ring (Muncie, Ind./Yorktown) has been named to the American Athletic Conference weekly honor roll after an impressive outing at the Wake Forest Invitational.
Ring took to the mound on Friday, Feb. 21 against the host Wake Forest Demon Deacons and pitched a complete game shutout in just his second start of the year. He scattered four hits and surrendered only two walks, one of which was intentional. Ring notched three strikeouts while leading his team to a 5-0 road victory over a strong SEC opponent.
In two starts this season, Ring has pitched 13.0 innings with only three earned runs for an ERA of 2.08.
Ring and the Bearcats will continue their season-opening road swing with four games at the Virginia Tech Tournament in Blacksburg, Va., Feb., 28-March 2. Cincinnati will play a double header on Friday against the University of Massachusetts-Lowell at noon and the host Virginia Tech at 4 p.m. They will again face the Highlanders of UMass-Lowell at 11 a.m. on Saturday and the VaTech Hokies at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Both games against Virginia Tech will be streamed live on ESPN3.
