The University of Cincinnati baseball team continues a 10-game homestand with a four-game series vs. Chicago State University Friday through Sunday at Marge Schott Stadium. Game 1 of the series begins 4 p.m. Friday and will feature UC junior right-hander Andrew Strenge. Saturday's schedule is set for a doubleheader beginning with the first game at 1 p.m. when freshman lefty Zach Morris will make his second collegiate start. The second game of the twinbill is slated to being approximately 30 minutes after the end of Game 1, and will see sophomore RHP Matt Ring on the hill. The fourth and final game of the series starts 1 p.m. Sunday, with UC's starting pitcher TBA. All four games can be seen live on

-With nearly 1,000 season tickets sold, excitement is in the air for the Bearcats baseball program as they open their home schedule on Friday at beautiful Marge Schott Stadium.
-Cincinnati is coming off a 3-1 weekend against Oakland (Mich.) University that featured four hotly-contest ballgames.
-In the series opener, the Bearcats overcame a 2-0 deficit by combining for three runs in the third and fourth innings. Matt Williams and Andrew Strenge led the charge be going 2 for 4.
-Saturday's doubleheader saw the Bearcats win both games by a score of 5-4. In Game 1, freshman third baseman Joey Bielek hit a 2-out, 2-RBI walk-off single to cap a three-run ninth inning. In the second game, the Bearcats bullpen pitched 5.2 scoreless innings.
-In the series finale, UC overcame a 4-1 deficit in the bottom of the eighth inning to take a 5-4 lead, only to see Oakland rally for two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning. UC had a chance to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth, but sophomore OF Ronald Cotton was thrown out at the plate trying to tag from third for the final out of the ballgame.

-Junior RHP Andrew Strenge will take the ball for the Bearcats on Friday. Strenge earned his first win of the season last week against Oakland after not allowing an earned run and striking out six batters in 5.1 innings pitched.
-Freshman left-hander Zach Morris will take the mound in Saturday's first of two ballgames. Morris will be making his second career start after pitching in two previous games out of the bullpen. In this first start against Oakland, Morris allowed three runs (two earned) with one strikeout and one walk in 5.1 innings and received a no decision.
-Sophomore RHP Matt Ring will make his fourth collegiate start in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader. Ring is looking to break from a slow start in 2012 after pitching just 10.2 innings in three starts.
-Sunday's starter for the Bearcats is to be announced.

-The Cougars are 0-7 on the 2012 season, after opening the year getting swept in a four-game series at Texas Southern in the final weekend of February. Chicago state then dropped games to Villanova, Michigan and Northwestern in neutral site games.
-CSU senior infielder Jonathan Carpen leads the team with a .385 batting average and  nine RBI and is tied for the team lead with two home runs.
-Opponents are hitting .427 with nine home runs and a .638 slugging percentage off of Chicago State pitching this year.
-The Cougars have surrendered 16 stolen bases in 20 attempts through seven games in 2012.

-Freshman 3B Joey Bielek was named to the weekly BIG EAST Conference Baseball Honor Roll on Tuesday after hitting .438 (7 for 16) with four RBI and a .500 slugging percentage during UC's four-game series against Oakland.
-In the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday, Bielek hit a walk-off, two-RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift UC past Oakland 5-4 and finished the game with a career-high four hits in five at-bats.
-Through 10 games in the 2012 season, Bielek ranks second on the team with a .343 batting average to go with four RBIs, two doubles, and four runs scored.
