CINCINNATI – Freshman Andrew Zellner (Farmersville, Ohio/Valley View) was named to the American Athletic Conference baseball honor roll on Monday morning after leading his team to a 1-0 victory over Youngstown State last weekend.

In just his third career appearance, the freshman pitched a career-high 7.1 innings and struck out a career-high four batters. He allowed just three hits and two walks in the contest and did not allow a run, combining with redshirt sophomore Bryan Chenoweth (Lafayette, Ind./McCutcheon) for the shutout.

Zellner is the second Bearcats player to be named to the American honor roll, joining redshirt junior Matt Ring (Muncie, Ind./Yorktown) who was recognized on Feb. 24.

The Bearcats will be back in action Tuesday, March 11 when they travel to Dayton, Ohio to take on the University of Dayton Flyers. The first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. at UD’s Time Warner Cable Stadium.
