CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati right-handed pitcher Nick Johnson (Delphos, Ohio/St. John's) was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll, the league announced Monday.
In his lone start of the week, Johnson pitched a season-high seven innings against Cleveland State University on Sunday. The senior did not allow a run and struck out a season-best nine batters, while allowing just three hits in Cincinnati's 5-0 win over CSU.
Johnson's accolade marks the second consecutive week a Bearcat has made the BIG EAST's weekly honor roll.
Senior outfielder Justin Riddell (Lexington, Ky./Lexington Catholic) earned the recognition on March 7 after batting .500 with 4 RBI, 3 runs scored and 2 doubles in a three-game series against Youngstown State University.
Cincinnati (7-5, 0-0 BIG EAST), which has won six of its last seven games, returns to the diamond at 4 p.m. ET Friday when it hosts Western Michigan University at Marge Schott Stadium.
