CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati baseball junior Grant Walker (Brookeville, Ohio/Northmont) was named to the American Athletic Conference weekly honor roll on Monday as announced by the league. He earns the second consecutive honor roll award for the Bearcats and the fifth overall.
Just six days after being named the Joe Nuxhall Classic MVP for his complete game performance against Miami (Ohio), Walker pitched his second straight complete game to top crosstown rival Xavier 2-0 on Tuesday, April 15. It was the first-career complete game shutout for the junior.
Walker went the distance on the mound while scattering six hits and striking out five batters. He only allowed three walks and did not hit a batter while allowing a mere .194 batting average against him.
Walker joins Matt Ring, Andrew Zellner, Ian Happ and Justin Glass as one of five Bearcats players to earn a spot on the conference honor roll this season.
Cincinnati will be back in action on Friday, April 25 when its hosts No. 14 University of Houston for the start of a three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday evening.
