CINCINNATI – College Sports Madness, a weekly college athletics publication, named University of Cincinnati baseball player Grant Walker (Brookeville, Ohio/Northmont) the Player of the Week for the American Athletic Conference on Tuesday afternoon.
Walker, a junior right hander, helped his team to a 2-0 victory over crosstown rival Xavier on Tuesday, April 15 with his first-career complete game shutout. He allowed just six hits and three walks while striking out five batters.
The effort came just six days after he was named the Joe Nuxhall Classic MVP for his first-career complete game over Miami (Ohio) to lead the Bearcats to the championship title.
Walker also was added to the American Athletic Conference honor roll on Monday, April 21 for his performance.
