CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati baseball player Connor Walsh (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) was named the American Athletic Conference’s Pitcher of the Week on Monday after an outstanding performance against the No. 12 University of Houston on Saturday, April 26.
The redshirt sophomore pitched a no-hitter through 5 2/3 innings against the nation’s twelfth-ranked team on his way to a seven-inning performance with only two hits and six strikeouts.
Walsh combined with freshman Austin Woodby (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) for the shutout, leading the Bearcats to a 3-0 victory. It was the first win over a ranked opponent for Cincinnati since May of 2011 when it beat No. 24 UConn at Marge Schott Stadium.
Walsh is the first Cincinnati player of the week this season, but joins five teammates who have been named to the honor roll.
The Bearcats will be back at Marge Schott Stadium on Tuesday, April 29 for a game against Northern Kentucky University at 6:30 p.m.
