Ian Happ Earns All-America Honors

CINCINNATI – Freshman Ian Happ (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) has been named a 2013 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Freshman All-American on Monday, as announced by the NCBWA organization.

Happ started all 56 games for the Bearcats and led the team with 41 runs scored, 13 doubles, six homeruns and 47 walks. He recorded a team-high .322 batting average, .483 slugging percentage and a .451 on-base percentage. His 47 walks led the BIG EAST Conference while he placed fifth with 25 stolen bases.

Happ becomes the eighth Cincinnati player to earn Freshman All-America honors, and the third since 2010. Teammates Andrew Strenge (2010) and Justin Glass (2011) also earned the distinction.
