CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati baseball team will kick off 2011 UC Homecoming festivities with its annual Diamond Club/Alumni Home Run Derby, starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, at Marge Schott Stadium.
UC baseball alumni and Diamond Club members are invited to attend the derby, which is slated to run until approximately 8 p.m.
Batting practice for participants will take place in the Marge Schott Stadium batting cages from 6-6:30 p.m. Food from City BBQ and beverages will be provided starting at 6:30 p.m. The derby competition will begin at 7:05 p.m.
In addition to the home run derby, the UC Homecoming parade near the Clifton campus is also scheduled on Oct. 14, from 7-8 p.m. A pep rally at the Myers Alumni Center will immediately follow the parade. Due to the parade, the sections of Calhoun Street and Clifton Avenue that surround the Uptown West Campus will be closed starting at 6 p.m.
The 2011 UC Homecoming game against University of Louisville is scheduled on Oct. 15 at Paul Brown Stadium. Kickoff time will not be announced until at least Oct. 3 due to television provisions.
