ROSEMONT, Ill. - Junior Deonta Vaughn scored 18 points - including two insurance free throws with four seconds to play - as Cincinnati held off a late DePaul surge to claim a 59-55 victory on Saturday afternoon at Allstate Arena.

The victory was the second straight for the Bearcats (12-6, 2-3 BIG EAST) and the first BIG EAST road win since defeating Rutgers, 72-68, in overtime on Feb. 9, 20008. DePaul (8-10, 0-5 BIG EAST) fell for the 10th time in conference play dating back to February 2008.

Cincinnati saw a 15-point lead evaporate as a DePaul comeback peaked with a pair of Will Walker free throws that cut the deficit to 56-55 with 1:22 left.

The Bearcats increased the lead when freshman Dion Dixon was fouled and hit the second of two free throws with 25.8 seconds remaining.

Bearcat senior forward Mike Williams scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds to record his fourth consecutive double-figure scoring effort.

Vaughn scored 16 of his game-high 18 points in the first half, including all five of his 3-pointers.

Walker paced the Blue Demons with 17 points. Forward Dar Tucker and center Mac Koshwal had 15 points apiece for DePaul.

UC has a quick turnaround as it heads to Providence, R.I., to face the Friars at 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 19.
