POSTGAME QUOTES

DePaul at Cincinnati

March 6, 2008

Cincinnati, OH - Fifth Third Arena

DePaul

Jerry Wainwright, Head Coach

Opening Statement

"Obviously it was an ugly game in some ways. We've really struggled in the last couple of weeks. Our schedule favored us early, but we came into another tough venue tonight. We are playing some young players. We are fighting for our lives, and trying to get into postseason play in our own conference. It was a big win for us. We are very proud to have beaten a good team."

On UC's Team

"Let me just start up by saying, I have known Mick and his father from when I was at Xavier. I had met Mick's dad and Mick when he started coaching. I do want to say this about his team that on Senior Night it is always tough. These kids have done all the right things. I told Mick before the game that the thing about Cincinnati is that they play without ego; they play with a collective ego. It has made them a team that can play and win in the BIG EAST. It is a credit to Mick, his coaching staff, and his older guys. They have a tremendous guard in Deonta Vaughn. My hat is off to those guys who came here for a short time."

UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI

Mick Cronin, Head Coach

Opening Statement

"We're obviously a very inept offensive team right now. We shot 33 percent in our own gym the second half. We missed numerous shots from point-blank range. It's tough to win when you can't score in your own gym especially from four feet and in."

On the Last Eight Minutes

"We can't make a lay-up. We turned it over 15 times against a team that wasn't pressing. They didn't trap us one time the whole game. Our fastbreak conversion ratio is probably the worst in America."

Adam Hrycaniuk, Sr., C

On Losing on Senior Night

"I'm feeling so terrible I can't even describe it. That's all I can say about that. We still have a few more games, and we need to stay positive. We need to go to Connecticut and then the (BIG EAST) tournament. We need to keep our heads up."

John Williamson, Sr., F

On the Last Eight Minutes of the Game

"I think we let our offense control our defense once again. We weren't making shots, so we slacked off on our defense. We didn't follow our defensive game plan."

On Having Motivation for the Final Stretch

"We still have atleast two games left. If we can go up there (to Connecticut), get a win, and then get another win. We will never give up and quit."
