Bearcats Fall in First Round of CBI

PEORIA (AP) - The Cincinnati Bearcats had their season ended with a 70-67 decision, despite 23 points from sophomore guard Deonta Vaughn. Seniors John Williamson and Jamual Warren added 14 and 13 points, respectively as UC was eliminated from the inaugural College Basketball Invitational.

Theron Wilson added 15 for Bradley (18-15), which had not played for 12 days before Wednesday's game.

The Braves missed nine of their first 10 shots as Cincinnati (13-19) jumped out to an early 10-2 lead.

Bradley center David Collins and Crouch then led a 14-6 Braves spurt to tie the game at 16 with 7:05 left in the half.

The game seesawed until Bradley pulled away midway through the second half. Three-pointers by Crouch and guard Andrew Warren sparked a 13-4 burst and a 50-41 lead with 10:40 left.

The Braves stretched the lead to 59-47 before Cincinnati fought back in the closing minutes. But the Bearcats, who dominated the boards 37-21, made 20 turnovers and couldn't draw any closer than the final score.

Deonta Vaughn led Cincinnati with 23 points. John Williamson added 14 points for the Bearcats.

With the victory Bradley advanced to the second round of the 16-team event when it hosts Ohio University on Monday.
