UC Head Coach Mick Cronin
"Obviously, everyone is still a work in progress this early in the season. You have different bright spots in the game. Some of my concerns of the season right now, we don't really have a perimeter guy that views himself as a dirty-work guy. We had our two wing guys have seven turnovers and have one more rebound than John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King. Jaquon Parker is hurt and he views himself as that. We have to be able to get some second-chance points. Nine is bad. We didn't make a three-pointer in the second half. We recruit athletes that play big, strong and physical.
I have to do a better job at the end of the day. I have to get my wing guys rebounding the ball. My freshmen didn't play a lot. Offensive rebounding is all about numbers. You can't have one guy going for it. For us, four guys are supposed to rebound and we had one guy. Our blocking out left a lot to be desired with the long rebounds. I won't say a lot about our defense because they only scored 54. For us, we have to be a better, more efficient team. You can't just hope you'll make every shot."
On Justin Jackson:
"Justin was great. He got thrown out of practice about three days ago. I didn't like his effort. He has Octavius Ellis battling him for playing time, and he has Cheikh battling him. He knows how good Cheikh is. He still has to work extra with (strength coach) Dave Andrews on his strength. He has a little confidence with his stand still three-pointer. It may have shocked our fans, but it didn't shock our bench. He can make that if they don't guard him. You really look at his game. Justin had 24, and 21 of that were on layups and free throws."
On team being ranked:
"This group of guys has never had any type of national ranking. Right now, the ranking means nothing. You lose games, and it will be gone. Last year's team earned it, but they are gone. It is a dynamic as a coach that you have to make sure guys are sharp and hungry. You are only as good as how hard you are working and your next game. It is a bit of a challenge this year. Intensity at times is maybe not their strong suit. They are a little too nice for me, but maybe I'm a little too intense. We have to understand that we are going to get what we deserve like every other team. The minute you walk out with a big head is the minute you will get it knocked off. I'm battling that with a couple of our guys because they are overconfident."
On Sean Kilpatrick:
"I think he's trying to figure out his role on the team. He's starting for the first time. He's trying to figure out when he needs to attack. He needs to go up and get fouled and keep it simple. He is really strong for a guard."

No. 4 Justin Jackson
On improvements from last season:
"I worked hard over the summer with Yancy (Gates) and improved my confidence. He told me things I needed to work on. So, this summer we hit the gym and worked on those things. And Coach (Cronin) has my confidence up about going out on the perimeter and guarding people. I feel more comfortable (on offense). I just let the game come to me."
On not fouling:
"At the start of the year, it was hard because I was so energized. Again, Yancy and I talked about it and he's showed me the ropes. I was talking to him on defense too."

On Justin's play tonight:
"We did a lot of offensive stuff this summer. Even shooting the three, he was backed up that far. If he wouldn't have shot it, I probably would have yelled at him. He was just comfortable tonight and took what the defense gave him. He didn't have to force anything. It came to him easy."
On defending the perimeter:
"I'm used to it. We do a lot of one-on-one drills and I break off. I'll guard some bigs then I'll go guard Cashmere (Wright) just to get used to moving my feet. You just never know what type of situation you'll be in. I think doing that has made it easier for me to adjust."
On taking Justin under his wing:
"We've been roommates since last year. It just came then. Coach Cronin called and told me to talk to Justin. I'm just trying to be what I didn't have when I got here. I didn't really have that older guy to help me out and make things easier. I just had to learn on the go. This just comes with my role as a leader on the team."
On avoiding the slow start:
"That was a big focus. Coach Cronin talked a lot about how hard we play on `D' and how we need to play that hard on offense too. We still had a letdown only scoring 27. Coach Cronin knows we'll play hard on defense. Now he is trying to get us to go down on the offensive end and play with that same intensity. "
NKU Coach Dave Bezold Postgame Quotes
"We shot a bunch of (three-pointers), but I only felt like a couple of them were bad looks and we've got some shooters. Sometimes you just have to live with it, especially when you're giving up so much size and speed you kind of have to change the battle ground. And we really did."
"If we make a couple of those shot right there toward the end we could of put a little more pressure on them. I would have liked to play the last two minutes down about four to six points instead of nine."
