scored a career-high 18 points, and senior Mike Williams
had a double-double as Cincinnati downed Charleston Southern, 74-55, Monday evening at Fifth Third Arena. Cincinnati's bench outscored Charleston Southern's (5-4; 1-0 Big South) bench, 55-14, as UC improved to 7-2.
The win gave head coach Mick Cronin his 100th career win, as he improved to 31-40 at the helm of the Bearcats.
Cronin made changes in his starting lineup, as sophomore Darnell Wilks and junior Steve Toyloy each earned their first career start. Williams came off the bench for the first time this season and scored 10 points and tied his career high with 11 rebounds.
Sophomore Alvin Mitchell had a career night with 16 points, a career-high nine rebounds, and a career-high six assists.
Cincinnati led by single digits for most of the first half before pushing the lead to as many as 22 in the second half. Charleston Southern was led by Jamarco Warren's 17 points.
The Bearcats return to the floor at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18, when UC meets Mississippi State in the BIG EAST/SEC Invitational held at U.S. Bank Arena.
