Men's Basketball Runs Past Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 79-49|

CINCINNATI - Behind a season-high 15 steals, its most steals since Nov. 29, 2003, the University of Cincinnati men's basketball team ran its way past the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, 79-49, Monday evening at Fifth Third Arena. The Bearcats earned their third 30-plus point victory of the season and converted 24 Golden Lion turnovers into 29 points, their most points of the season off turnovers.
A 19-2 run followed by a 14-3 run to close the half gave UC a 43-16 lead heading into the intermission. Nine different UC players scored in the first half, led by Deonta Vaughn's nine points.
The Golden Lions closed within 19 points in the second half, but never got any closer as the Bearcats closed the game on a 15-4 run to win, 79-49.
The trio of Vaughn, freshman Yancy Gates, and junior Steve Toyloy paced the Bearcats with 14 points apiece, while Gates eight rebounds. It is Gates' fourth consecutive double-digit scoring performance.
Besides a career-high for points, Toyloy came off the bench to add a career-high nine rebounds. UC's bench outscored the Golden Lion bench, 38-23.
The Bearcats have a week off before traveling to the FedEx Forum on Monday, Dec. 29 to take on the Memphis Tigers at 9 p.m. (ET). The game will be televised on ESPN2.
