NC State Head Coach Sidney Lowe
On the win:
"In was a great effort on our guys' part. They hung in there and fought through some tough situations. They were being very physical with us, especially in the second half, but our guys stuck with it, made plays and got the win."
On the teams ball handling:
"We took care of the ball for the most part in the first half. They came out more physical in the second half and we felt the pressure a bit, but we hung in there, got some key rebounds and shots late, and stayed in front."
On the play of Javy Gonzalez:
"I thought he did a great job. What I was really impressed with was when we huddled up and he was talking to his teammates about getting stops and making plays, just trying to take on some leadership roles. He hit some big free throws for us late."
On Gavin Grant:
"He can score and he's capable of getting stops. When he's feeling it, he's someone that we're comfortable with having the ball in late, pressured-filled situations."
Cincinnati head coach Mike Cronin
"I thought it was a great game. We weren't able to get a couple of defensive stops when we had to have them, and that cost us in the end. Give NC State credit. They played well, took care of the ball. Grant hit a huge three, and there were just too many breakdowns on out part."
"We're a young team, and young teams don't play as well as old teams. But that's coaching. And again, give NC State credit. A couple of their kids hit some huge shots. They played well. Brandon Costner had a great game."
On Cincinnati's defensive pressure:
"We've been working on that in practice. It's harder to run that with Jamual [Warren] out of the lineup."
