Final Score: Cincinnati 70, Pittsburgh 61

UC Starters: Cashmere Wright, Sean Kilpatrick, JaQuon Parker, Justin Jackson & Cheikh Mbodj

Cincinnati won its fourth consecutive BIG EAST Conference opener and improves to 6-2 in league openers since joining the league prior to the 2005-06 season.

The Bearcats improve to 5-0 away from Fifth Third Arena this season, having won three neutral site games and two road games. UC has won 10 of its last 12 games away from home dating back to a 72-68 win at Villanova in last year’s BIG EAST regular-season finale.

After posting a school-record eight wins over ranked opponents last season, the Bearcats record a win today in its first contest with a ranked opponent this season.

Cincinnati improves to 37-4 in the combined months of November and December since the start of the 2010-11 season.

UC records back-to-back wins at Pittsburgh for the first time in series history. The Bearcats recorded a 66-63 win at the Petersen Events Center last season on New Year’s Day.

Cincinnati held Pitt without a three-pointer on Monday (0 of 10). It marked the first time the Bearcats have held a BIG EAST opponent without a three-pointer during the Mick Cronin Era. The last time UC held the opposition without a triple came at home against Texas Southern (0 of 4) on Nov. 18, 2008.

UC’s 25 made free throws against Pitt were the most by the Bearcats in a game since making 26 of 33 attempts against USF on March 9, 2011 in the BIG EAST tournament.

The Bearcats’ 65 overall win since the start of the 2010-11 season rank third behind Syracuse (71) and Louisville (66) among BIG EAST teams. UC also ranks third since the start of the 2010-11 season in BIG EAST Conference wins at 24, behind only Syracuse (29) and Notre Dame (27).

Head coach Mick Cronin moved into a tie for third place in coaching victories at UC with Gale Catlett (126 from 1973-78).

UC outscored Pitt 44-27 in the second half. The Bearcats have scored 40 or more points in the second stanza in nine of 14 games this season.

Cashmere Wright scored a game-high 18 points on 5-of-10 shooting with two assists. It marks his 11th double-digit scoring effort in 14 contests this season and the fifth game he has led the Bearcats in scoring.

Sean Kilpatrick posted his 14th double-digit scoring game of the season with 16 points to go with four rebounds and a career-high tying two blocks. He was 9 of 11 from the free-throw line. He was 1 of 5 from behind the arc and has made a three-pointer in each of the last 22 games and 49 of UC’s last 50 contests.
