The University of Cincinnati Athletic Department and President’s Office are excited to announce that President Santa Ono will be keeping his promise and will shave his head following the Men’s Basketball game on Monday, January 7, 2013 versus Notre Dame. President Ono made a commitment that if the basketball team won 10 games in a row, he would shave his head to support the team along with the charitable organization, The Dragonfly Foundation. In addition to President Ono, University of Cincinnati Student Body President Lane Hart will also partake in the head shaving festivities.

“I’m proud of our Men’s Basketball team for winning 10 games in a row,” says University of Cincinnati President Santa Ono. “I’m even more excited for our entire University community to come together to support such an incredible cause as The Dragonfly Foundation. I’m looking forward to shaving my head to celebrate the success of our basketball program and of the children that are part of The Dragonfly Foundation fighting the toughest battle of them all.”

The Dragonfly Foundation was established in 2010 and is an organization that seeks to provide kids and young adults who are being treated for cancer and blood diseases distractions that will help ease the pain and fear of being sick. As part of this effort, The Dragonfly Foundation plans events and actively solicits celebrities to connect them with patients both in and out of the hospital.

"It takes a village to raise a non-profit," said Ria Davidson, vice president and co-founder of The Dragonfly Foundation. “We are grateful for the support provided by President Ono and the University of Cincinnati. We have a long way to grow to serve the 3,600 cancer and blood disease patient treated annually by Cincinnati Children's Hospital Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute."

To help support President Ono’s mission and The Dragonfly Foundation, fans are welcome to donate to the cause and be a hero.
