The No. 14/15 University of Cincinnati men's basketball team plays host to No. 21/19  Notre Dame on Monday at 6:30 p.m. ET.  The contest - televised by ESPN2 and available on 700 WLW-AM - is a UC "Black Out" game. Fans are encouraged to wear black. The Bearcats will be wearing special edition adidas "Black Out" jerseys.   

UC (13-2, 1-1 BIG EAST) suffered a 53-52 home loss to St. John's on Saturday in the Bearcats' league home opener. Cashmere Wright recorded his third career double-double with a game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds to go with a five three-pointers and a game-high four steals. Titus Rubles added 14 points and a career-high three three-pointers.

Notre Dame (13-1, 1-0 BIG EAST) won its 11th consecutive game of the season on Saturday, posting a 93-74 win over Seton Hall in its BIG EAST opener. Scott Martin led all scorers with 22 points with six three-pointers while Jack Cooley added 19 points and 13 rebounds.

The Bearcats won last season's meeting 71-55 at Fifth Third Arena on Jan. 4. Notre Dame leads the series overall 8-5. Cincinnati has won the last three games in the Queen City.

Cincinnati Storylines
-The Bearcats have won nine of their last 12 games against ranked opponents dating back to a 66-63 win at then-No. 22 Pittsburgh on Jan. 1, 2012.
-Since the start of the 2010-11 season, Cincinnati ranks third in the league with 65 overall wins, behind only Syracuse (74) and Louisville (67). The Bearcats are fourth in the conference with 24 league wins behind only Syracuse (31), Notre Dame (28) and Marquette (25).  
-Cashmere Wright needs one assist Monday to move past UC legend Oscar Robertson (425 assists from 1957-60) for sole possession of fourth place in Bearcats' history.
-Mick Cronin is one win shy from taking sole possession of third place on the UC career coaching wins list. He matched Gale Catlett (126 wins from 1973-78) for third place.
-Cincinnati's defense has performed well through 15 games this season, limiting opponents to only 35.7 percent shooting from the field - second in the BIG EAST and eighth in the nation.
-Since BIG EAST play began, UC opponents have combined to shoot 1 of 19 from three-point range. Pittsburgh was 0 of 10 from beyond the arc on Dec. 31, marking the first time UC had held a BIG EAST opponent without a three-pointer since joining the league beginning with the 2005-06 season.
-The Bearcats will wear special edition "Black Out" uniforms designed and developed by adidas on Monday against Notre Dame.
-UC President Santa J. Ono will have his head shaved following the Notre Dame game, keeping his promise to the team for winning 10 consecutive games this season. (UC started 12-0.) Scouting Notre Dame
-Notre Dame enters Fifth Third Arena on Monday having won 11 consecutive games after a 93-74 home victory over Seton Hall in its BIG EAST opener on Saturday.
-The Irish entered Sunday leading the BIG EAST in field goal shooting (51.5 percent), three-point shooting (40.6 percent) and assists (19.9 per game).  
-Senior forward Jack Cooley averages a double-double with 15.5 points and 11.4 rebounds. He has 10 double-doubles on the season. Cooley leads the BIG EAST in rebounds (11.4 per game), and field goal shooting (63.7 percent).
-Five Irish players have made 15 or more three-pointers led by guard Scott Martin's 27 triples. He leads the team in three-point shooting at 50.0 percent (27 of 54) - tied for second-best in the league.
-Junior guard Eric Atkins leads the squad with 7.4 assists per game - third in the league.
-The Irish were picked to finish third in the BIG EAST according to a preseason poll of league coaches.
-Notre Dame was 22-12 overall last season with a 13-5 league record, finishing third in the conference standings.

The Notre Dame Series
-Notre Dame owns an 8-4 advantage in the overall series. UC is 3-1 in Cincinnati, having won the last three meetings in the Queen City.  Notre Dame is 4-0 in South Bend and 3-1 at neutral sites.
-Last season's 71-55 home win for Cincinnati snapped a three-game losing streak in the series.
-The Bearcats are looking for back-to-back wins in the series for the first time since consecutive victories in the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
-Since both teams joined the BIG EAST, only one meeting (UC's 60-58 home win on Jan. 16, 2010) has been decided by less than eight points.  The only other close decision in series history came in a 79-78 Irish victory in the 1976 NCAA Tournament Midwest Regional on March 13.
