CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati senior guard Cashmere Wright has been named to the BIG EAST Conference weekly honor roll after helping the Bearcats win at No. 24 Pittsburgh (Dec. 31) and nearly complete a rally from a late 10-point deficit against St. John’s (Jan. 5).
The Savannah, Ga. native, who produced game-high scoring totals in both contests, averaged 20.5 points, shooting 53.8 percent from the field (14 of 26) and 41.2 percent from three-point range (7 of 17) to go with 12 rebounds and four steals last week.
Wright scored a game-high 18 points on 5-of-10 shooting in UC’s 70-61 win at No. 24 Pitt. He posted his first double-double of the season (third of his career) with a game-high 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting with five three-pointers, a game-high 10 rebounds and four steals against St. John's.
Wright entered play on Sunday ranked among the BIG EAST Conference leaders in four categories: scoring (14th at 14.9), three-pointers per game (second at 2.8), three-point shooting (fifth at 46.2 percent) and steals (sixth at 2.1).
The No. 14/15 Bearcats play host to No. 21/19 Notre Dame on Monday at 6:30 p.m. The game will be televised by ESPN2 and is also available on 700 WLW-AM.
