Kilpatrick Named American's Player of the Week

University of Cincinnati senior guard Sean Kilpatrick has been named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week the league announced on Monday.

Kilpatrick led No. 13/15 Cincinnati (21-2, 10-0 in the American) to a pair of wins last week while averaging 23.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists.

Kilpatrick scored a game-high 28 points with a trio of three-pointers and 11-of-11 shooting from the free-throw line in UC’s 69-66 win at No. 12/7 Louisville on Jan. 30. He scored 12 of the Bearcats’ last 14 points to secure the win.

Kilpatrick posted a game-high 18 points with a pair of three-pointers and 6-of-6 shooting from the foul line in Cincinnati’s 50-45 home win over USF on Sunday. He accounted for all of the Bearcats’ final eight points in the win.

The American's leading scorer averaging 19.4 points, Kilpatrick has led UC in scoring in all but three games this season and has the Bearcats off to their best start since a 26-2 start in 2001-02. UC is 10-0 in league play for the first time since going 16-0 in Conference USA in 1999-2000.

With his effort against USF, Kilpatrick moved into third place on the UC career scoring list with 1,891 points behind only the legendary Oscar Robertson (2,973 points) and Steve Logan (1,985 points).
