CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati junior guard Jaquon Parker has been named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll for his play this past week in Bearcats' wins over then-No.8/7 Marquette and at Villanova.
Parker scored a career-high 28 points on 10-of-18 shooting to go with seven rebounds to lead Cincinnati to a 72-61 home win over No. 8/7 Marquette on Feb. 29. The point total was the highest by a Bearcat in a game this season. The win was UC's fifth win over a ranked opponent this season.
Parker added 11 points and four rebounds against Villanova in a 72-68 road win on March 3. It marked Parker's 10th double-digit scoring performance of the season and fifth in BIG EAST play. His efforts in the win secured UC's most successful season in BIG EAST play at 12-6 since joining the league for the 2005-06 season.
For the week, Parker averaged 19.5 points while shooting 52.0 percent from the field (13-of-25), 50.0 percent from three-point range (3-of-6) and 76.9 percent from the foul line (10-of-13).
Parker is averaging 9.2 points and 5.0 rebounds in 24 games played this season. He is shooting 42.7 percent from the field and 42.6 percent from three-point range. He has 18 starts this season, including each of the last nine games.
