CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati men's basketball team returns to the NCAA Championship for the third consecutive year with a second-round matchup against Creighton on Friday March 22 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pa.

The game is scheduled to tipoff at approximately 2:45 p.m. ET following the Duke vs. Albany matchup at 12:15 p.m. It will be televised by CBS with Kevin Harlan (play-by-play), Len Elmore (analyst), Reggie Miller (analyst) and former UC track All-American Lewis Johnson (sideline) calling the action. The game will air on 700 WLW AM with Dan Hoard (play-by-play) and Chuck Machock (analyst) on the call.

UC (22-11) is the No. 10 seed while the Bluejays (27-7) are the No. 7 seed. No. 2 Duke and No. 15 Albany are the other two Midwest region teams in Philadelphia.

The Bearcats finished the regular season topping the 21-win barrier for the third straight season. The Bearcats are led by junior Sean Kilpatrick (16.9 ppg) and seniors Cashmere Wright (12.6 ppg) and JaQuon Parker (11.3 ppg).

Creighton won its 12th Missouri Valley Conference Tournament title in program history while earning back-to-back crowns for the third time. Doug McDermott leads the way for the Bluejays, averaging 23.1 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game. He has won back-to-back MVC Player of the Year honors and has already been named a finalist for National Player of the Year accolades for the Wooden Award, Naismith Award and Oscar Robertson Trophy.

UC and Creighton have met twice on the hardwood with the Bearcats holding a 2-0 advantage. The teams first met in NCAA Midwest region action on March 16, 1962 with UC earning a 66-46 win on their way to winning the 1962 NCAA Championship. The team's second meeting occurred on Dec. 28, 1989; a 60-58 Bearcats win in the Rainbow Classic.

The Bearcats are making their 27th overall appearance in the NCAA Championship and their 17th in the past 22 seasons. UC has compiled a 43-25 record on the way to winning two national titles (1961 & 1962), making eight regional finals (1959-63, 1992-93, 1996) and six final fours (1959-63, 1992).

Cincinnati has never been a No. 10 seed in the NCAA Championship and hold a 25-11 mark in Midwest Region games. UC's six NCAA Final Four appearances have all come out of the Midwest Region.

UC has never played a game in the Wells Fargo Center but holds a 7-6 mark all time in games played in Philadelphia. UC's most recent matchup in the city of brotherly love was a 72-68 win over Villanova on March 3, 2012. All time in games played in Philly, UC is 3-2 at Temple, 2-1 at LaSalle, 1-0 at Saint Joseph's and 1-3 at Villanova.

Numerous former Bearcats have continued their professional careers in Philadelphia. Dick Dallmer (1950) and Phil Wheeler (1956) were draft picks of the Philadelphia Warriors while Lionel Harris was a 1973 draft pick of the 76ers. Corie Blount (2003), Connie Dierking (1963-64/1970-71), Art Long (2003), Kenny Satterfield (2003) and George Wilson (1969-70) have all played for the 76ers.

Currently four former UC football players, LB Connor Barwin, TE Brent Celek, DE Trent Cole and OL Jason Kelce, play for the Philadelphia Eagles who compete at Lincoln Financial Field which shares a parking lot with the Wells Fargo Center.

UC is one of nine schools nationally to win its football bowl game and also qualify for the NCAA Championship field, joining Arizona, Boise State, Louisville, Michigan State, Mississippi, Oklahoma State, Oregon and Syracuse.

The UC Athletics Ticket Office was allocated a very limited number of tickets for the second round games in Philadelphia. Based on such limited availability, UCATS Director's Society members, George Smith Society members and patrons contributing at $5,000 and above will receive priority in the allocation process.

Second and third round tickets are either $85 or $75 apiece, depending on seat location at the Wells Fargo Center. All tickets will be available at the will call window in Philadelphia beginning approximately two hrs before tipoff. The location will be determined at a later date and sent via e-mail to all patrons who purchase tickets. A photo ID will be required to claim the tickets. Ticket purchase rights are non-transferable.

Tickets for games in Philadelphia are still available for public purchase by calling 1-877-NCAA-TIX (877-622-2849) or visiting

On Monday, March 18, The University of Cincinnati will continue to accept and finalize NCAA ticket requests from UCATS Director's Society members, George Smith Society members and patrons contributing at $5,000 and above.

Members of the Director's Society and George Smith Society are eligible for up to four tickets to the second and third-round games. Patrons contributing at $5,000 and above are eligible for up to two tickets for the second and third round games. Those eligible UCATS members may request tickets by logging into their account at, and clicking "Men's Basketball Post Season". All requests must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 18.

There will be a lottery for UC student tickets. Current UC students should go to the student ticket page on and login to their account to enter the lottery. The entry deadline is 2 p.m. ET on Monday, March 18th. Fifty (50) lottery winners and 10 alternates will be contacted via e-mail after 3 p.m. on Monday, March 18. Students who earned loyalty points by attending games throughout the season will be given first priority. Lottery winners are eligible to purchase two tickets, one for them and one for another UC student they would like to sit with. Students will be charged $85 per ticket and must finalize payment by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 18th.
