INDIANAPOLIS - University of Cincinnati senior guard Deonta Vaughn (Indianapolis, Ind./HarmonyCommunity) has been selected by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) to play in the 2010 Reese's College All-Star game this Friday, April 2, at 4:35 p.m. as part of Final Four Friday® at Lucas Oil Stadium. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:35 p.m. and admission is free. All players in the game are seniors and the game is being televised by CBS College Sports.
Vaughn, a two-time all-BIG EAST Conference selection, recently completed his four-year career at Cincinnati ranked among the school's best in points (3rd/1,885), assists (1st/511), 3-point baskets made (1st/313), and minutes played (1st/4,310). The Indianapolis, Ind., native is the first player in program history to score 1,800 points and dish out 500 career assists. His 1,885 career points rank third all-time behind Oscar Robertson (2,973 points) and Steve Logan (1,985).
As a member of the "Hershey's All-Stars," Vaughn will be coached by former Indiana State head coach Bill Hodges, who led the Sycamores to the 1979 NCAA title game vs. Michigan State. Joining Vaughn on the team from the BIG EAST will be Scottie Reynolds from Villanova and Lazar Hayward from Marquette. The Hershey's All-Stars will take on the Reese's All-Stars led by former Purdue coach Gene Keady.
