Gates Invited to Portsmouth Invitational Tournament|

CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati senior forward Yancy Gates has been invited to participate in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, April 11-14 in Portsmouth, Va.
Gates is one of 64 college seniors extended invitations to take part in the four-day, 12-game tournament played in front of scouts and general managers from 30 NBA teams as well as numerous international organizations.
Gates averaged 12.2 points and 8.9 rebounds in his final season with UC, helping lead the Bearcats to a 26-11 record, the BIG EAST Championship title game and the school's first NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 appearance since 2001. The Cincinnati native tied for fourth in the conference in rebounding and became the first player in school history to lead UC in rebounding for four consecutive seasons. He also became only the sixth player in school history to amass more than 1,400 points and 900 rebounds during his career.
Gate's teammates on Portsmouth Partnership will include Tulsa's Steven Idlet; Alabama's JaMychal Green; Whitman's David Michaels; High Point's Nick Barbour; UNLV's Oscar Bellfield; VCU's Bradford Burgess and Seton Hall's Jordan Theodore.
Along with Gates and Theodore, six other seniors from the BIG EAST Conference will compete at the tournament: Georgetown's Jason Clark and Henry Sims; West Virginia's Darryl Bryant; Pittsburgh's Ashton Gibbs; Louisville's Kyle Kuric and USF's Agustus Gilchrist.
All games will be played at Churchland High School in Portsmouth.
