Stephenson and Pacers Start NBA Playoffs Run

Former University of Cincinnati men’s basketball player Lance Stephenson and the Indiana Pacers begin the 2014 NBA Playoffs on Saturday, April 19 against the Atlanta Hawks in Indianapolis. The top-seed Pacers and No. 8 seed Hawks start the seven-game series at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Stephenson has enjoyed his best season in the NBA during 2013-2014, averaging 13.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists while shooting 49.1 percent from the field. He led the NBA in triple-doubles with five. Stephenson has been a key contributor to Indiana’s success this year, helping lead the Pacers to their most wins (56) since the 2004 campaign.

The fourth-year NBA player entered the professional ranks after playing the 2009-10 season with the Bearcats. The Brooklyn, N.Y. native averaged 12.3 points and 5.4 rebounds while starting 32 of UC’s 34 games, earning BIG EAST Conference Rookie of the Year accolades.

He was selected by Indiana as the 40th overall pick in the second round of the 2010 draft.
