CINCINNATI - Members of the University of Cincinnati men's basketball team visited Our Daily Bread on Thursday to spend time with young children attending the facility's afternoon care program.

Among the Bearcats taking part in the visit were senior Titus Rubles, junior Ge'Lawn Guyn, redshirt sophomores Jeremiah Davis III and Shaquille Thomas and freshmen Troy Caupain and Jermaine Lawrence.

"It was a great honor to come out here today and get involved with the kids and spend time with them," Davis said. "The kids really brought out the kid in me. I enjoyed it. I thought it was a great day and hopefully everyone else here did too."

Our Daily Bread is a ministry of hospitality located in Over-the-Rhine that serves the needs of neighborhood residents and those who frequent the area. The ministry provides stability and hope for its guests and the neighborhood community. It is a place where guests are invited to share a warm meal, receive social services, and to socialize in a caring, supportive and welcoming environment.

UC head coach Mick Cronin will serve as honorary chairman of the Soul of the City Soiree - a vital fundraiser benefitting Our Daily Bread - on Sept. 1 at Montgomery Inn Boathouse. The sixth annual event is 5-11 p.m. Tickets are $175 per person. The soiree provides the best seats for the Labor Day fireworks and offers exciting live and silent auctions, valet parking, an open bar and dancing to the soulful sounds of the Jimmy Church Band.

Cronin also served as honorary chairman at the 2012 Soul of the City Soiree that raised over $100,000 for Our Daily Bread.
