UC Set to Host Inaugural Basketball 101 on Oct. 6|

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that the proceeds from the Inaugural Bearcats Basketball 101 will be donated to the American Cancer Society. The event, which is set for Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010 in Fifth Third Arena, provides the women of Cincinnati an opportunity to increase their basketball knowledge, mingle with UC coaches and players, and enjoy a night out with their friends.
Featuring head men's basketball coach Mick Cronin and members of the women's basketball coaching staff, the clinic, presented by Lebanon Ford Lincoln, takes place on Oct. 6 from 6-9 p.m. in Fifth Third Arena. Trauth Dairy is also a participating sponsor and a donation after the event will be provided to the American Cancer Society.
Dr. Brad Davis, associate professor of surgery at UC and president of the American Cancer Society's Hamilton County Advisory Board, thanked the university for its work to fight cancer.
"Donations such as this help the Society save lives from cancer and create more birthdays," he said. "We're thankful that Coach Cronin, who is also a member of our Board, Coach Elliott and the University of Cincinnati are on the same team with the American Cancer Society to help cancer patients stay well and get well, by finding cures and by fighting back."
Members of the both the men's and women's basketball programs will be on hand to lead sessions on shooting, dribbling, rebounding, and more. The evening will include happy hour, dinner, a gift bag, on- and off-court basketball instruction, a group photo with coaches, and more!
