CINCINNATI – The story of former University of Cincinnati men’s basketball player Mike Williams and his struggle to walk again following a 2009 gun-shooting incident left him paralyzed is featured in the Oct. 17 issue of ESPN the Magazine.
Williams played a season and a half (1982 and 1983) for the Bearcats, averaging 11.0 points and 7.5 rebounds under former UC head coach Ed Badger.
Williams, a Chicago De LaSalle product, transferred to Bradley University from UC where he averaged 13.0 points and 6.8 rebounds from 1984 to 1986.
Drafted by Golden State in the third round of the 1986 NBA Draft, Williams went on to play for Sacramento and Atlanta during the 1990 season, averaging 0.7 points and 1.1 rebounds. He finished his playing career in Europe.
