UC Faces Bellarmine on Saturday in Exhibition Finale

The University of Cincinnati men's basketball team concludes its preseason schedule Saturday when it plays host to NCAA Division II member Bellarmine at Fifth Third Arena. The exhibition contest tips at 2 p.m. and will be available only on BearcatsTV via a live stream at GoBEARCATS.com.

The Bearcats and Knights have met three previous times in exhibition play with Cincinnati winning each contest. The teams last met in preseason action last season with UC earning an 86-51 victory.

The Bearcats opened preseason play on Oct. 26 at Fifth Third Arena with a 77-63 win over Carleton, one of the top university-level programs in Canada. UC's Sean Kilpatrick led four Bearcats in double figures with a game-high 20 points. Justin Jackson added 14 points, seven rebounds and five blocks. Shaquille Thomas accounted for 11 points and seven rebounds while Titus Rubles added 10 points and six rebounds.

UC opens the 2013-14 regular season on Friday, Nov. 8 against North Carolina Central.

-Cincinnati wraps up its exhibition season schedule against Bellarmine Saturday at Fifth Third Arena.The Bearcats posted a 77-63 win over Carleton in an exhibition contest last Saturday at Fifth Third Arena. Senior guard Sean Kilpatrick led all scorers with 20 points.
-Bellarmine head coach Scott Davenport and UC head coach Mick Cronin served on the same staff under Rick Pitino at Louisville during the 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons. Cronin was the associate head coach while Davenport served as an administrative assistant.
-Current Bellarmine assistant coach Reece Gaines played for Louisville while both Cronin and Davenport were on the Cardinals' staff.
-The 2013-14 Bearcats return two starters and eight lettermen from last season's team that finished 22-12 overall and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the third consecutive season.
-Kilpatrick was named first team All-American Athletic Conference by the league's coaches at AAC Media Day on Oct. 16 in Memphis. He averaged 17.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.41 three-pointers last season and leads all current AAC players with 1,444 career points.
-Senior forwards Justin Jackson and Titus Rubles man the UC frontcourt. Jackson ranked eighth in the BIG EAST Conference in blocks (1.37) last season. Rubles is UC's returning leader in rebounds (5.9) and assists (2.0).
-The Bearcats were picked fourth in the American preseason coaches' poll. UC received 58 points to finish behind predicted league champion,Louisville (81 points), UConn (69) and Memphis (68). Temple was picked fifth with 40 points, followed by SMU (39), Houston (28), USF (27), UCF (24) and Rutgers (16).
-UC opens regular-season play against North Carolina Central on Nov. 8 at Fifth Third Arena. Tip time is set for 8 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3.
