Cincinnati Game Notes
The University of Cincinnati (1-0) plays its second game in 48 hours when it welcomes Jacksonville State (1-1) to Fifth Third Arena on Tuesday. The game starts at 7 p.m. and will be televised by FOX Sports Ohio.
The Bearcats are coming off a 65-40 season-opening home victory against Alabama State on Sunday evening. Senior forward Yancy Gates notched his 14th career double-double and led four UC players in double figures with 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Senior guard Dion Dixon scored 14 points. Sophomore Sean Kilpatrick added 13 points and nine rebounds. Junior guard Cashmere Wright contributed 10 points.
Jacksonville State suffered a 58-44 setback at Marshall on Sunday. Forward Tarvin Gaines led the Gamecocks with 12 points.
This is the first meeting in series history.
The Jacksonville State game is the second of four contests the Bearcats will participate in as part of the Global Sports Challenge this season. The NCAA-exempt event includes UC home contests with Alabama State (Nov. 13), Jacksonville State (Nov. 15), Northwestern State (Nov. 21) and Marshall (Nov. 25).

-Cincinnati opened its 111th season of varsity men’s basketball Sunday with a 65-40 win over Alabama State.
-UC has won 19 consecutive home nonconference regular-season games since a 76-66 loss to Xavier (12/13/08).
-UC recorded 10 blocked shots on Sunday against Alabama State, the most since posting 10 against Western Illinois (11/22/08).
-UC allowed only 14 fi rst-half points to the Hornets Sunday,the fewest points scored in the fi rst half by a Bearcat opponent during the Mick Cronin era.
-The Bearcats are 295-63 at Fifth Third Arena (23rd season).
-The 40 points allowed to Alabama State were the third fewest surrendered by a Cronin-coached squad at UC behind only 34 to Dayton (11/27/10) and 39 to Howard (11/10/07).
-The Bearcats were picked to fi nish fi fth in the BIG EAST according to the league’s coaches.
-UC is the only team in the nation to increase its win total in each of the last fi ve seasons (11 in 2006-07, 13 in 2007-08, 18 in 2008-09, 19 in 2009-10 and 26 in 2010-11).
