CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati junior guard Sean Kilpatrick has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week for his efforts in three games that helped the Bearcats win the Global Sports Classic championship last week in Las Vegas, Nev.

The Yonkers, N.Y. native scored a career-high 32 points against Iowa State in the semifinals on Friday, shooting 7 of 14 from the field and 16 of 16 from the free-throw line. Kilpatrick also grabbed five rebounds and five steals in the 78-70 victory. His 16 made free throws without a miss were a school record. Kilpatrick's 32 points were the most scored by a Bearcat since Deonta Vaughn tallied 34 points against Notre Dame on Feb. 4, 2009.

Kilpatrick finished with 16 points in UC's 77-66 win against Oregon in the championship game on Saturday, making a trio of three-pointers to go with a team-high eight rebounds as well as contributing three assists and two steals. He was named to the all-tournament team following the game.

Earlier in the week, Kilpatrick recorded his second career double-double with 15 points and a career-high-tying 10 rebounds against Campbell on Tuesday.

For the week, Kilpatrick averaged 21.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.7 steals in three games.

It marks Kilpatrick's second BIG EAST Player of the Week award of his career. Last season, he earned the accolade for the week of Jan. 2 after tallying 17 points, four three-pointers and 10 rebounds against Oklahoma (Dec. 29) and 19 points, five three-pointers and six rebounds at Pittsburgh (Jan. 1).

The Naismith and John R. Wooden Award watch list nominee leads all Bearcats averaging 21.0 points through six games this season. He is shooting 50.6 percent from the field (48 of 81) and 41.9 percent from three-point range (18 of 43). He ranks second on the team in rebounds (6.7 per game), three-pointers (18), assists (16) and steals (12).
