Cincinnati Game Notes

The University of Cincinnati (4-2) plays its first road game of the season when it battles Georgia (4-3) on Friday at Stegeman Coliseum as part of the HTC BIG EAST-SEC Challenge. The game starts at 7 p.m. and will be televised by ESPNU.

The contest marks the first of three consecutive games the Bearcats will play away from Fifth Third Arena. UC also travels to Xavier on Dec. 10 and Wright State on Dec. 14 before it returns home.

Four Bearcats scored in double figures led by junior-transfer center Cheikh Mbodj (12 points) and senior forward Yancy Gates (10 points and 10 rebounds) as UC recorded a 56-47 home win over Miami (Ohio) on Tuesday. Mbodj, playing in only his third game at UC after sitting out the first three games with a right ankle injury, hit two key baskets inside the final three minutes to secure the win. Gates registered his third double-double of the season and 16th of his career.

Georgia is coming off a 70-68 loss at Colorado on Monday and will play its first home game since Nov. 16.

Friday's contest marks the first game in series history between Cincinnati and Georgia. UC is 1-0 in the BIG EAST-SEC Challenge, defeating Mississippi State, 75-63 at US Bank Arena in downtown Cincinnati on Dec. 18, 2008.
