After four seasons as a running back/linebacker for the Bearcats, Jon Carpenter trades in his helmet for a headset as he enters his second season as a defensive graduate assistant for Brian Kelly.
Carpenter made 72 tackles, including two sacks, while playing a key role on special teams coverage units throughout his Bearcats career. He was the recipient of the Jim Kelly Spirit Award in 2008.
A three-time BIG EAST All-Academic selection, Carpenter graduated in the spring of 2008 with a degree in industrial management and a minor in mathematics.
Carpenter's father, Rob, played 11 seasons in the NFL, his older brother Bobby is a fourth-year member of the Dallas Cowboys and his younger brother George is a sophomore linebacker at Marshall University.
