Tight Ends/H-Backs

Nick Grimes is in his first season as the tight ends and h-backs coach for the University of Cincinnati football team.

Grimes joined the staff in 2014 and spent two seasons as an offensive graduate assistant, working with the tight ends. He was named the offensive quality control assistant following the 2015 season and served as interim tight ends/h-backs coach during the recent 15-practice spring session.

As a GA, Grimes worked with the offense staff in all facets of the program’s day-to-day operation, including practice planning and management and assisting with the defensive scout team.

He came to UC after serving as the offensive coordinator at Howe HS in Texas. Grimes coached the offensive line at Navasota HS in 2012.

The College Station, Texas native played offensive line at both Sam Houston State and Tulsa, lettering from 2006-08 for the Bearkats. He was an Honorable Mention All-Southland Conference selection as a senior, part of an offensive line that cleared the road for a Bearkat attack that finished the season ranked No. 4 in the nation in passing offense (338.0 yards per game) and No. 6 in total offense (457.3 yards per game).

He won a Class 4A North Carolina State Championship as a senior center and defensive tackle at Rose HS in Greenville.

Grimes and his wife Cortney live in Cincinnati and have a daughter, Tatum Ryan. His father JB is UC’s offensive line coach.
