Former University of Cincinnati standout Orlando Smith returned to the Bearcats in December of 2012 as the assistant director of football strength and conditioning.
Smith spent the previous four seasons at Texas Tech University and the past three under current UC head coach Tommy Tuberville.
Prior to Tech, Smith served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of South Carolina from 2005-2008, after spending two years at the University of Kansas in a similar role.
Following graduation in 1999, Smith took a position as running backs coach at Thomas More College in Kentucky, before moving on to his first NCAA FBS position as a graduate assistant strength coach for football at the University of Minnesota.
A former all-conference running back for the University of Cincinnati in the late 1990's, Smith helped lead the Bearcats to the 1997 Humanitarian Bowl championship. He twice earned All-Conference USA honors. Smith graduated from UC in 1999 with a degree in criminal justice/psychology. While with the Minnesota program, he earned a master's degree in sport management in December of 2002.
