2010 POSTGAME FOOTBALL NOTES

TEAM NOTES

  • Cincinnati Game Captains: Armon Binns (WR), John Hughes (DL), Jason Kelce (OL), Walter Stewart (LB).
  • John Goebel (RB) became the first UC player to lead the team out of the tunnel carrying the City of Cincinnati flag.
  • With its first quarter interception, the UC defense has forced a turnover in two straight games for the first time in 2010.
  • The safety allowed by the Bearcats in the second quarter was the first since Oregon State on Sept. 19, 2009.
  • UC's three points in the second half was its fewest in the first half in 2010.
  • UC has been vexed by turnovers in 2010 with 13 turnovers in the team's seven losses and only four in its three wins.
  • UC has lost three straight games for the first time since the 2005 season. The Bearcats closed that year by dropping three consecutive games from Nov. 9 to Nov. 26. UC is 44-17 since 2006.
  • The loss snapped a seven-game BIG EAST Conference road winning streak, dating back to Oct. 25, 2008, a loss at Connecticut.
  • UC's 16 rushing attempts were the fewest in school history, ahead of the 19 attempts at Connecticut (2008) and against Miami (OH) (1968).
  • UC turned the ball over five times on the day. In its losses, UC has 13 turnovers, compared to only four in games won.
  • UC did not have a passing touchdown in the game, the first time that has occurred since Oct. 11, 2008, a span of 30 games.
  • WVU snapped a two-game skid against the Bearcats and leads the all-time series 15-3-1 and 8-2-1 in Morgantown.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

  • Zach Collaros (QB) returned to the starting lineup after missing the Syracuse game due to a knee injury suffered against USF (Oct. 22). It was his 12th career start.
  • Collaros finished 25-of-45 for 221 and two interceptions. He did not have a passing touchdown in a start for the first time in his career.
  • JK Schaffer tied a career high with 16 tackles. He had nine solo stops, seven assists, a tackle for a loss, and forced fumble.
  • Monte Taylor (DL) recorded his first career sack in the first quarter. He set career highs with four tackles and 2.0 tackles for a loss.
  • Wesley Richardson (DB) picked up the first interception of his career on the next play. He finished with seven tackles and a fumble recovery.
  • Armon Binns (WR) caught a ball in the first quarter, extending his consecutive games with a reception streak to 22.
  • Binns finished with 10 catches for 115 yards, his fourth 100-yard receiving game of the season and the seventh for his career.
  • Jacob Rogers (K) hit a 49-yard field goal as time expired in the first half. It was his longest field goal of the 2010 season and longest field goal since hitting at 53 yarder at Hawai'I on Dec. 6, 2008
  • Isaiah Pead (RB) had a 53-yard touchdown run on fourth down on UC's first drive from scrimmage in the third quarter. He finished with 78 yards on eight carries, an average of 9.8 yards per carry.
  • Derek Wolfe (DL) had his first sack in two games, giving him three on the season which ranks second on the team. He had seven tackles.
