adidas and University of Cincinnati Sign Four-Year Agreement
UC Football team to wear "three stripes" beginning in 2008
CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati and adidas have entered into a multi-year agreement in which adidas will supply footwear and apparel for Bearcats football. The new agreement begins with the 2008-09 academic year and extends through the 2011-12 season.
"At the University of Cincinnati our goal is to build a Top 20 football program and to do so you have to have world-class athletes and world-class facilities," said head football coach Brian Kelly, "and now we have another piece of the puzzle, adidas - a world-class provider of equipment and apparel. The adidas brand is known for its high-quality shoes, equipment, and its customer service. For adidas to make the commitment it has to our program, with equipment and additional resources, shows Cincinnati football is on the rise and will be a national championship contender for years to come."
With Cincinnati football now wearing the "three stripes", all 18 intercollegiate teams at the University of Cincinnati will sport the adidas line of footwear and apparel through the 2011-12 season.

"adidas is a truly international brand and one which represents championship quality and a commitment to excellence - just like UC. This agreement will see to it that adidas outfits all of our student-athletes from head to toe, while providing additional resources for our department. The quality of their product and their dedication to service to all of our teams, makes adidas an outstanding partner for the University of Cincinnati."
Beginning in the fall of 2008, UC teams will be outfitted exclusively in adidas footwear, uniforms, training apparel, and accessories. Cincinnati joins a select group of universities that have similar agreements with adidas, including Notre Dame, UCLA, Tennessee, Indiana, Nebraska, Michigan, and Wisconsin among others. adidas also has marketing agreements with the NFL, MLS and an 11-year exclusive all-league partnership with the NBA.

The newly designed Bearcats football uniforms and sideline apparel will be unveiled at the annual spring football game, Bearcat Bowl II, Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 7 p.m. in Nippert Stadium.
An all-new line of Bearcats-adidas gear will arrive in stores later this summer. Fans throughout Ohio and across the nation will be able to purchase a wide range of products, including sideline gear, coaches' polo shirts, hats, jerseys, performance apparel, and outerwear.
"The new partnership will help us achieve unity amongst our teams and will help us develop new revenue streams which will be beneficial as we continue our goals of winning BIG EAST and NCAA Championships," added Thomas. "Funding from the new agreement will provide added resources to our department's budget and will help us redistribute other funding to help with priority needs."
The final contract will include important provisions that reflect the commitment of both the University and adidas to labor and human rights issues. adidas' Social & Environmental Affairs team monitors contract factories for compliance with fair labor and sustainability codes of conduct in order to identify potential problems and implement positive changes. The adidas SEA team provides regular monitoring reports to adidas partner schools.

University of Cincinnati offers 18 sports programs, with all programs competing in BIG EAST Conference, except for lacrosse, which is competing as an independent this season before joining the BIG EAST in 2008-09.
