Nineteen Football Student-Athletes Named Academic All-BIG EAST

Feb. 8, 2011

Nineteen University of Cincinnati football student-athletes were among the 135 members of the 2010 BIG EAST All-Academic Football Team.

The Bearcats 19 selections were the most of any BIG EAST Conference team.

To be nominated, a player must have a cumulative grade-point index of at least 3.0 and completed a minimum of two semesters of academic work.

Earlier Tuesday, former UC running back John Goebel (Milford, Mich./Brother Rice) was selected as the 2010 American Eagle Outfitters BIG EAST Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

It is the first time a UC football player has won the award.
