Football Announces Staff Changes|

CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati head football coach Butch Jonesannounced and addition to the 2012 coaching staff Thursday and also released new staff responsibilities.
Jones named Roy Manningas outside linebackers coach and also announced the responsibilities for the defensive staff.
Wide receivers coach T.J. Weist, in his third year on the staff, adds the additional role of recruiting coordinator. The 25-year coaching veteran previously held recruiting coordinator duties during his stint at Indiana University (1997-98).
"We are very excited to have the opportunity to add an individual that is a great quality person, and an effective communicator who understands the mission and purpose of our football program," Jones said.
Manning, who served as a graduate assistant for the Bearcats in 2010, joins the staff after serving as the offensive graduate assistant at the University of Michigan this past season. Manning worked primarily with the offensive line and helped lead the Wolverines to an 11-2 record, including a win in the 2012 Allstate Sugar Bowl.
Jancek, a 20-year coaching veteran who has been UC's co-defensive coordinator for the past two seasons, will lead a defensive staff that boasts over 75 years of combined coaching experience. Stripling, a 35-year coaching veteran who mentors UC's defensive line, enters his third year with the Bearcats.
"We have experienced coaches who are great teachers on and off the field and are among the best in college football," Jones said. "It's our job to develop these young student-athletes to be the best football players, the best students and the best people they can possibly be. And, when they finish their careers here at the University of Cincinnati, we want to make sure they leave here better people."
The Bearcats were one of the most improved defenses in the nation in 2010, leading the NCAA FBS in tackles for a loss (8.62), ranking second in sacks (3.46), sixth in rushing defense (96.23) and 20th in scoring defense (20.31). UC led the BIG EAST and ranked ninth nationally in turnover margin (0.92) while the Bearcats' 33 turnovers gained was tied for fourth nationally.
UC opens spring practice on March 1, 2012 inside the Sheakley Athletics Center. Bearcat Bowl VI, an open practice for UC fans and supporters, will take place on Saturday, April 14 inside Nippert Stadium.
