CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati head coach Brian Kelly and members of the Bearcats football team spent Wednesday in Columbus at the Ohio Statehouse being honored for the program’s accomplishments during the 2008 season.
After arriving in Columbus, the group was escorted through the Showcase UC display in the Statehouse atrium. Results of several UC research projects were on display. These research projects help to bring jobs, environmentally friendly industry, and investment to Ohio.
In the House Chambers, coach Kelly was presented with an honorary resolution recognizing the team’s 2008 accomplishments, by Speaker Budish and Representative Dale Mallory. Mallory, the brother of Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory, represents a district that includes the University. Coach Kelly then addressed members of the House and presented the speaker with an autographed football.
In the Senate Chambers, Senate President Pro Temp Tom Niehaus recognized the UC party and along with Senator Eric Kearney, whose district includes UC, presented the Bearcats with an honorary resolution recognizing the accomplishments of the 2008 UC Football Team. Coach Kelly thanked the assembled members and presented hats and an autographed ball.
