Football's Deionte Buckley Named Goal Post Football 5A Running Back of the Year

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - University of Cincinnati freshman running back Deionte Buckley (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central) was named the Goal Post Football 5A Running Back of the Year Award.

Buckley, who enrolled at UC in January and is participating in spring football practice, ran 214 times for 1,610 yards and 27 touchdowns for Warren Central HS in 2011. He averaged 7.5 yards per carry and helped lead the Warriors to an 11-1 record, a Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference title and an 11-1 record. He rushed for 100 or more yards nine times and 150 yards or more six times.

Buckley earned Associated Press First-Team Class 5A All-State honors and was a First-Team All-Marion County selection, also earning a spot on the Indiana Football Coaches Association Top-50 All-State Team.

UC is off for the next two weeks with finals and spring break on the calendar. The Bearcats return to the practice field for the second segment of spring football during the week of March 26.

Bearcat Bowl VI is set for Saturday, April 14, 2012 inside Nippert Stadium.
