CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati football team held its final scrimmage of the spring Saturday in front of over 2,000 fans at the Sheakley Athletics Center.

"Had a good practice," Head Coach Tommy Tuberville said. "Lot of good effort. We mixed a lot of the first, second and third team guys in there today, to make people learn how to communicate. Execution was iffy, on and off. Effort was real good. We made some progress. We cut back a bit on the offense and defense today to see if we could do some base things. It was a good day. Had a good crowd and good turnout. Excited about finishing up this week and getting into the offseason."

Brendon Kay (Marine City, Mich./Marine City) and Chris Moore (Tampa, Fla./Thomas Jefferson) led the offense on the day. Kay was 6-of-12 for 178 yards and two touchdowns, both which went to Moore who caught five balls for 153 yards and the two scores. The duo hooked up for TD strikes of 66 and 56 yards with Ralph David Abernathy IV (Atlanta, Ga./Westminster School) hauling in the other TD on an 18-yard play. Nate Cole (Memphis, Tenn./Mitchell) had five catches for 98 yards.

Tion Green (Sanford, Fla./Lake Brantley) carried the ball 14 times for 58 yards and a pair of touchdowns on the goal line. Rob Rice (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) also had a pair of scores, rushing nine times for 47 yards.

Defensively, UC was led by Clemente Casseus (Miami, Fla./Everglades), Adam Dempsey (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) and Zach Edwards (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown) who each tied for the lead with six tackles.

Marcus Foster (Troy, Ohio/Troy), Andre Jones (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain), Jeff Luc (Port St. Lucie, Fla./Treasure Coast/Florida State), Trenier Orr (Winter Garden, Fla./Ocoee) and Josh Posley (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central) had five stops apiece.

Orr and Leviticus Payne (Southfield, Mich./Southfield) each had an interception.

Following the workout, selected UC players and coaches hold a free clinic on the field for youth football players up to the eighth grade. Over 500 youths participated in the clinic and an autograph session afterwards.

UC is working through 15 NCAA allotted spring practices under Tuberville, who took the reins of the program in December and is entering his 18th season as a collegiate head coach. UC is coming off a 10-3 campaign in 2012 with the Bearcats earning their fourth BIG EAST Conference title in five seasons and a come-from-behind win over Duke in the 2012 Belk Bowl.
