Football Holds Jim Kelly Sr. Golf Classic|
April 22, 2014
The University of Cincinnati football team held the 20th Annual Jim Kelly Sr. Golf Classic earlier this month with over 130 golfers teeing it up at Pebble Creek Golf Course for a four-man scramble.
Head Coach Tommy Tuberville was hitting shots on the par-3 16th hole all-day, meeting with each group and taking pictures with all the lettermen present.
Following the 18 holes of golf, a larger group of former football players gathered for a dinner which featured a pig roast and raffle.
This year's featured honorees were former head coach Rick Minter and tight end Brent Celek. Minter is now the linebackers coach for the Philadelphia Eagles while Celek is entering his eighth season with the Eagles.
The day started with the Glenn Sample Captains' Breakfast at Pebble Creek. The breakfast, a UC tradition for many years, features team captains from past years dating back to the 1940s. Selected captains from each decade spoke to the 2014 UC senior class, sharing knowledge, advice, and stories.
