CINCINNATI - On Thursday evening, members of the University of Cincinnati football staff welcomed family and friends through the doors of the Richard E. Lindner Center for the Seventh Annual UC Women's Football Clinic. 2011 BIG EAST Conference Coach of the Year Butch Jones, in addition to his wife Barb Jones, hosted the event presented by Lebanon Ford.
The clinic raised money for the Barrett Cancer Center at University Hospital for breast imaging equipment. The event gives ladies a chance to increase their football knowledge, receive a behind the scenes look at the Bearcats football program and support a great cause.
Physicians and scientists at The Barrett Cancer Center are contributing to a better understanding of the cause, development, treatment and cure of cancer. The center has a well-known reputation for providing the most advanced cancer services available in the region. Dr. Mary Mahoney, director of breast imaging at the UC Cancer Center/Barrett Center, addressed the women on Thursday night and shared some exciting news.
"The money that has been raised the past two years has been used to generate data, which then allowed them to apply for and receive a grant towards even more research," Mahoney said.
The event raised $12,000 and hopes to provide the Barrett Center with even more support to help find a cure for breast cancer.
