CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati senior linebacker Greg Blair (Pittsburgh, Pa./Schenley/Lackawanna CC) was tabbed for a pair of watch lists entering the 2013 season.

UC football is presented by Fifth Third Bank.

Blair was named to the preseason watch lists for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and the Bednarik Award.

The Nagurski Trophy is presented annually to the national defensive player of the year by the FWAA and the Charlotte Touchdown Club. The Bednarik Award has been presented to the College Defensive Player of the Year since 1995 by the Maxwell Football Club.

Blair was a First-Team All-BIG EAST honoree in 2012. He ranked 12th nationally, leading UC and the BIG EAST with 138 tackles, averaging 10.6 per game. Blair had a team-high 9.0 tackles for a loss while adding 2.5 sacks and a pair of interceptions. He set a UC bowl record with his game-high 15 tackles against Duke in the 2012 Belk Bowl, his eighth game in 2012 with double-digit tackles and 12th with six or more tackles.

BRONKO NAGURSKI TROPHY Players may be added or removed from the watch list during the course of the season. Once again, the FWAA will choose a Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week each Tuesday throughout the season. If not already on the watch list, the honored player will be added at that time. The FWAA and the Charlotte Touchdown Club will announce five finalists for the 2013 Bronko Nagurski Trophy on Nov. 21.

The Bronko Nagurski Trophy winner will be chosen from those five finalists who are part of the 2013 FWAA All-America Team. The FWAA All-America Committee, after voting input from the association's entire membership, selects the 25-man All-America Team and eventually the Nagurski finalists. Committee members, then by individual ballot, select the winner, the best defensive player in America.

The annual Bronko Nagurski Trophy Banquet will be held on Dec. 9 at the Westin Hotel in Charlotte. In addition to the 2013 Bronko Nagurski Trophy winner announcement, the banquet will also celebrate the recipient of the Bronko Nagurski Legends Award, sponsored by the CTC and Florida East Coast Railway. Georgia Tech's Randy Rhino, a member of the FWAA's 1972 All-America team, will be honored. Florida head coach Will Muschamp will be the keynote speaker at the banquet.

BEDNARIK AWARD Semifinalists for the Bednarik Award will be announced Oct. 29, while the three finalists will be unveiled Nov. 25. The winner of the 2013 Bednarik Award will be announced as part of the Home Depot College Football Awards Show held on Dec. 12. The formal presentations of the award will be made at the Maxwell Football Club Awards Gala hosted by Harrah's Entertainment Atlantic City on March 7, 2014

The watch list candidates have been chosen by the Maxwell Football Club's selection committee, which analyzes both past performance and future potential. The Club reserves the right to make additions and deletions to these lists as the 2013 season unfolds. All members of the Maxwell Football Club, NCAA sports information directors, FBS head coaches and selected national media are eligible to vote for the awards.
