CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati running back Isaiah Pead (Columbus, Ohio/Eastmoor Academy) was named to the watch list for the 2011 Doak Walker Award, the PwC SMU Athletic Forum announced Friday. The award is presented annually to the nation's top college running back.

Pead was a Second Team All-BIG EAST Conference honoree in 2010 after rushing for 1,029 yards and six touchdowns on 157 attempts, despite missing almost two full games due to injury. He ranked third in the league in rushing, but led the league for the second-straight year with his 6.6 yards per carry average. That average ranks him in the top-10 of all running backs nationally.

He was named to the watch list for the 75th Annual Maxwell Award on July 5, 2011.

The recipient of the 2011 Doak Walker Award will be announced live on The Home Depot College Football Awards on Thursday, December 8 on ESPN. The Doak Walker Award Presentation Banquet will be held at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas, in February 2012.

The award, in its 22nd year, is named for SMU's three-time All-America running back Doak Walker. It is the only major collegiate award that requires all candidates to be in good academic standing and on schedule to graduate within one year of other students of the same classification.

The Bearcats, led by second-year head coach Butch Jones, return 18 starters from the 2010 squad, including unanimous First-Team All-BIG EAST quarterback Zach Collaros (Steubenville, Ohio/Steubenville), as well as a trio of Second-Team All-BIG EAST honorees in Pead, linebacker J.K. Schaffer (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) and wide receiver D.J. Woods (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville).
