Football Wraps Single Workout On Wednesday

Venue: Higher Ground Conference & Retreat Center
Gear: Full Pads

WEST HARRISON, IND. - The University of Cincinnati football team continued its preseason preparation Wednesday with a single afternoon workout at the Higher Ground Conference & Retreat Center in West Harrison, Ind.

Wednesday's workout was a mixed bag of weather, featuring sun, clouds, rain, humidity and a 25-minute weather delay.

"It was a pretty good day," Head Coach Tommy Tuberville said. "I thought we were going to have better weather. It was supposed to be hot and muggy, but it cooled off and we had a little rain and had to extend practice a bit after a layover. We got something out of it though. We are starting to do a little more team and blitz. Tomorrow we will work twice and put in short yardage and goal line."

The 18-year veteran head coach provided an update on the running back situation.

"Hosey Williams is standing out right now," Tuberville said. "Tion Green got hurt on the first play of the scrimmage and is working his way back. Rod Moore has made a lot of improvement. Mike Boone, true freshman, is going to be a standout. Chad Banschbach rushed for 113 yards in our scrimmage. That opened a lot of people's eyes. He doesn't have great speed but he's got great balance inside running the football. I wouldn't count him out getting some playing time this year."

Tuberville is hoping for more of the hot and humid conditions for the Bearcats final two-a-day session Thursday.

"Our legs are holding up pretty good," Tuberville said. "We have had some cooler weather but we need a hot day tomorrow."

Quote of the Day: "That's my warm up. Playing the guitar singing to Willie and Merle trying to get myself ready for practice. It gets back to the old days when they are telling a story in their song." - Tuberville on his pre-practice air guitar routine during team stretch Wednesday.
