Training Camp 2012: Bearcats Wrap Up Time At Camp Higher Ground|
Aug. 21, 2012
WEST HARRISON, Ind. – The University of Cincinnati football team practiced for the 16th and final time at the Higher Ground Conference & Retreat Center, wrapping up its off-campus training camp Tuesday in West Harrison, Ind.
After practice, the team held its final meetings at Higher Ground and following dinner, the Bearcats were treated to the annual rookie show and a team bonfire.
"Our team has shown a capacity for work," Head Coach Butch Jones said. "They have approached camp in a business-like fashion. We also are extremely young. That was evident out here. The maturation of our football team will be critical. I like what I saw in terms of the energy. I saw for the most part an attacking mentality."
The Bearcats have not yet named a starter for the 2012 season at quarterback with the battle continuing between junior Munchie Legaux (New Orleans, La./Edna Carr) and senior Brendon Kay (Marine City, Mich./Marine City)
"It's been extremely healthy as both Munchie and Brendon are competing every day," Jones said. "Because of the nature of competition they have had, their games are growing immensely. They are both becoming better quarterbacks. When we get back to campus, We are going to watch every throw, do our due diligence and make the right decisions for our football team."
The Bearcats will return to campus Wednesday morning to continue preparations for the 2012 season opener on Thursday, Sept. 6 against Pittsburgh at 8 p.m. in historic Nippert Stadium.
